_GREENTECH by Sara
Sara, a pupil from Woodlands School in Basildon, has contributed a fantastic article about her experience of attending _GREENTECH.
Introduction
On Thursday 8th of February, a sustainability event took place at Ford in Laindon.
Many different companies that had the passion to change the world were there, and students represented their schools in a feverish way.
This event brought an understanding of innovations, intelligence, and experiences that won’t be forgotten.
Students were able to learn about the life of sustainable business and how they are trying to make an impact in our future.

Engineer - Yasmin
At the beginning of the event the students were delighted to a hear a speech from an impactful and diligent engineer who surely made an impact move in the STEM world. Yasmin Ali has worked in many culturized jobs, such as oil rigs, the government etc.
Yasmin likes stand-up comedy, hanging out with friends and family and listening to music. She enjoys visiting Scotland when watching stand-up comedy, which she says is like a tradition.
Yasmin will publish a book named ‘Power Up’, this will be published in March.
She wants to make a positive impact in the world and her mission is to make recycling more known and to make the world a better place.

Creative Tech Fest Employee - Letitia
During the event I had the opportunity to interview one of the employees, her name is Letitia, she enjoys reading, rollerblading and campervanning.
She wants pupils and students to be inspired by STEM and wants to make an impact with recycling. Letitia is a passionate employee, her mission is exuberant and intelligent.
The Drone Rules / Drone City Books
One of the activities at the event was learning about drones. Pupils learned the innovative way drones impact on our lives. The team like to dream big and believe that drones help the world for the better.
The team is passionate about creating different stories to help children understand the impact of drones. They even created a virtual city, which they would like to turn into a TV show - they believe this would empower many children.
Climate Change
I had the chance to interview a 3rd generation farmer - Cllr Peter Schwier.
During my interview I was able to analyse that Peter is a hard worker, his mission is to bring awareness about cliamte change. He wants Basildon to be more green and wants to impact by reducing carbon by 2050 (impressive).
Peter enjoys aviation, gardening and walking his dogs. He lived in Michigan in America for three years, and now enjoys spending his time helping Basildon be a better city.

Ford Motor Company
Fortunately, I got the chance to interview an employee from the Ford Company - her name is Alex Walker.
Alex enjoys reading, cooking and solving jigsaw puzzles. She is a scout leader and likes rugby. Alex has worked at Ford for 3 years, and says that this is her ideal job; she believes that cars make an impact on the world.
Alex is a motivational person, she has a mission for Ford, and for this event. She is a fascinating person, and is the root to this event.
CNH
One of the companies that attended the event was CNH (Case New Holland). They taught us a range of skills and ideas that tractors need. They believe that in a few years' time tractors will be based on technology.
CNH wants to improve the environment and make the world more sustainable. CNH wants to help us make the world cleaner, they show us this by helping us understand how tractors could be more sustainable.
Conclusion
Overall, the event was a success, everyone learnt something for sure. Students were able to have fun but also learn at the same time. Companies were able to show the audience their improvements but also their ideas, which made pupils feel overwhelmed with excitement for the future.
I want to thank Ford for allowing such a great event to take place, but also Creative Tech Fest for arranging it and making sire everything went well. Also a thank you to Yasmin for the great and inspirational speech; Essex County Council, for such an empowering workshop; CNH, for teaching us how important it is to be more sustainable; The Drone Rules / Drone City Books, for showing us the power of technology.
Thank you!
